ROUND 4

Tonight marks round 4 of Dekin Sports Trivia Week, where we’re giving away free performance sports apparel to the first contestant to leave a comment with the right answer. Congratulations to Zach Taylor, who just won a free performance sports shirt. The question: Name the two FOOTBALL teams who played in the game known as the “earthquake game” after the crowd’s reaction to a game-winning touchdown registered on a seismograph machine in the university’s science department.

The answer: Auburn vs. LSU. WIn 1989, LSU trailed Auburn by a score of 6-0, late in the fourth. With an SEC West Division title at-stake and bragging rights on the line,LSU’s quarterback Tommy Hodson drove the team down the field before finally throwing a last chance 4th down touchdown pass to Eddie Fuller. The reaction of the crowd was detected by a seismograph located in LSU’s Howe-Russell Geoscience Complex around 1,000 feet from the stadium.

Congratulations to Landon Baucom, who wins a free performance short sleeve shirt from DEKIN Sports. Landon submitted a pic of the now Orlando Thunder, of the former World Football League, in their hideous lime green jerseys.  It was a tough call between the Baucom’s submission and Chris Edwards’ Kentucky basketball shorts, but the the use of an extinct team was the decisive factor.

Why is there a Milwaukee Brewers' logo on this HOCKEY jersey?

Yet another entry from the sport of hockey. This jersey design is so busy, I’m not even sure where to start. Let’s just hope they don’t mix MLB logos with NHL jerseys ever again.

The infamous Nike Sleeve

I must confess, I laughed pretty hard at this entry, due to my anti-UF leanings. Regardless if you’re a Gator Hater or Tim “Tearjerker” Tebow, you must admit, the sleeve was one of Nike’s worst concepts, along with EVERY SINGLE OREGON DUCKS FOOTBALL JERSEY!

Kentucky basketball "Icycle" shorts

When it comes to national championships, Kentucky is second to UCLA. Considering their rich tradition, you would be surprised by the frequent uniform design changes. The prime examples came from the mid-90’s when the Wildcats jersey designs underwent extreme makeovers each season. This entry receives bonus points, because it was submitted by a self-proclaimed, die-hard UK fan and graduate, who was courageous enough to admit that he owned a pair of these hideous shorts. UK’s athletic department must have a great PR team, because it’s virtually impossible to find a picture of the TOP part of this jersey.
